How do I paint or varnish over clear epoxies?
When Epiglass® and other clear epoxies cure they sometimes produce a white deposit ("blush") on the surface that may cause uneven curing and possible detachment of coatings applied to it. It is necessary to remove this blush to ensure proper cure and adhesion. After applying Epiglass allow it to cure for a minimum of 3–5 days. Scrub Epiglass Epoxy with a stiff brush using soap and water. Rinse with fresh water to remove soap residue. Note that sanding is not a substitute as it will not remove the surface contamination described. Once cleaned, sand with 120-grit wet-or-dry paper, remove the sanding residue and apply 5-6 coats of Perfection® Varnish.
